FIND THE SHAPES GAME BY EARLY LEARNING CENTRE - BUILD THE

Find the Shapes game by Early Learning Centre. Build the farmhouse, hide the shapes and then see if you can identify them by feel alone. This game is absolutely fantastic for young children. They get enjoyment out of not only constructing the farmhouse but also playing the game. There are two pieces missing in the game (1 cardboard pig and 1 cardboard star) but this does not affect game play at all - all other pieces are included plus some that we have provided for extra enjoyment for you which you can do with this game - this is part of the beauty with the game because as the children become more familiar with it they can add other items of their own to the game such as plastic animals etc. About the Game: The game is designed to be played on different levels and therefore as children gain greater competence, they can move onto the next level. Before starting, you must erect the farmhouse by slotting it into the base and placing the roof on top. The game is then played by levels i.e level 1 - sort out just the 12 shapes and place them inside the farmhouse. Ensure each child can see the shape guide. Starting with the youngest player, they place theri hands inside the house and pick up a shape and without removing theri hands from the farmhouse try to identify it by touch alone. When they think they recognise the shape, they call out the shape to the other players and remove it from the house. If they are correct they keep the shape, if not the shape is returned to the house and play moves to the next player. Each player totals the numbers on the back of the shapes they've identified and the one with the most points is the winner. Level 2 is basically a repeat of level 1 but without the help of the shape guide. Level 3 see the shapes replaced by the 16 object cards i.e wheelbarrow, bucket etc. Level 4 removes the shape guide. Level 5 replaces the object cards with the animal and people cards i.e pig, farmer etc, level 6 removes the shape guide. Level 7 you have to take one shape, one object and one animal or people card and allow the children to use the shape guide. Level 8 removes the shape guide. Level 9 use all the pieces with the shape guide and level 10 removes the help so without the shape guide.You can of course vary the levels yourself to make the game as much fun as possible for the children. There is also alternative gameplay - the children could take it on turns asking each other questions about the shape they have i.e is it rounded? is it an animal? etc Can also be played in teams. The farmhouse can also be used in a pretend play scenario.
