Rosewood veneer with attractive inlay made from boxwood. This piece would benefit from minor restoration where the drawer fronts have shrunk lifting the veneer. For a keen restorer this is a straightforward job. This Davenport is furnished with a very attractive olive green skiver with gilded tooling. The French polishing is authentic and it doesn't need re-polishing. There are however 1 or 2 pieces of veneer missing around the base. Dimensions: Height-89cm, Width-61cm and Depth-61cm. late 19th century oak Davenport type Desk with leather inset writing slope. This pretty desk is finished with a shaped oak gallery top and stands on impressive pierced shaped support legs finished with tiny Brass casters. Dimensions Overall height 89cm Overall width 55.5cm Overall depth 46cm Condition Overall the condition is very good for its age, with a good rich patina to the Oak. The lock is missing and the gallery needs some attention but it is whole and in place. Please see images closely. Characterful oak desk in great condition. I think it is turn of the 20th century. The top surface has normal wear and tear and the drawers have ink stains inside, showing it is pre-loved! A very attractive late Victorian/Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau / writing desk circa , in good condition. It is relatively small and lightweight, and would fit into a smallish space (for example, the corner of a sitting room or study, or entrance hall). The desk is inlaid with lighter woods, probably satinwood and boxwood. It has cabriole legs and drop handles. The writing surface folds down and is supported by two retractable arms. There are three generous drawers in its lower part. The desk measures 76 cm (30”) wide, 41 cm (16”) deep and 91 cm (39.5”) tall. It has a writing height of 68 cm (26.5″).
