Large Aubusson style rug. 100% wool. 4.90m x 3.68m Rug is in perfect condition and although it is on the lounge floor the room has not been decorated so it hasn’t been used as such. The thick wool pile makes it very heavy and does not require underlay. Rug was purchased new for £ from Sterling’s on special order due to size. Large beige wool carpet

This is an wool mix, pile carpet. It has been laid in a large L shaped hall. The 2nd picture shows where you enter the hall, and where the carpet is widest, at approx 62'' x 112''. The first picture shows the first part of the L, and is 14; long by 44''. The last picture shows the last part of the L shape, where the carpet is 16' by 43''. From cross-reference between Persian city and tribal carpets, there come the robust and colourful handmade Bakhtiari carpets.The centre of Bakhtiari weaving area is belonging to the Kurds and even though they were formerly nomadic tribes, since early 20th century they migrated and settled in the nearby cities and towns. If found in good condition, the high-quality Bakhtiari room size carpets are as good as any Persian city rugs like Heriz or Farahan. Unfortunately, from mid 20th century, the mass production of Bakhtiari carpets, meant decreasing in their quality. This gallery large size antique handmade wool Bakhtiari carpet, however, is a prime example of one of the finer Bakhtiari carpets made circa . Measuring 480cm x 330cm (15.7'x10.8'), it has a Shah Abbasi central medallion on lattice field with floral ornaments, spandrels and arabesques enclosed by beautifully bands of geometric and floral borders.
