My wife and I bought this shelving unit about 20 years ago from a shop that specialised in vintage French farmhouse furniture and has been used in a few rooms in our house and ever since. The shelving has it’s original paint and looks absolutely fantastic in that shabby chic look. Can be placed on the floor, wall hung or placed on top of a chest of drawers, a very versatile piece and look fantastic. An original French provincial farmhouse shelving unit with it’s original off white paint so is showing signs of age with chipped paint bumps and knocks. Has historic woodworm but are all long dead as we treated it before we used many years ago just to be on the safe side, it all ads to the character. We have never painted and we have had for 20 years so is proper shabby chic. Beautiful Large, Shabby Chic Farmhouse Dresser

The dresser has rubbed down to provide a suitable key... and then a coat of primer followed by three coats of a lovely subtle cream. I have then applied a dark wax to give that aged effect. The top of the dresser base has been sanded back and re-waxed using Bri-wax. The base itself has shelves in for extra storage. The paint work has been lightly distressed for the real shabby chic feel. Finally, all the paintwork has been given two coats of clear wax for protection. This is an original farmhouse dresser which I have painted in farrow and ball apple green. It's an old piece of furniture and it needs a bit of tlc and repainting.
