5 1/2 inch korsteel brand bit. Single jointed rugby pelham, with curb chain and a dark havana leather lipstrap. Excellent condition, only worn a couple of times. No nicks or marks. Looks very posh on, like a double, ideal for showing!  The bit has been disinfected and cleaned for your horses safety and comfort. The lip strap has been cleaned and treated with rapide leather cream and is supple and ready to be used. HARD RUBBER MOUTH PELHAM BIT WITH CURB CHAIN

HARD RUBBER MOUTH PELHAM WITH CURB  ChainIt is very high Quality Hard rubber pelham is about the most popular variety of pelham, and the modern alternative to the Vulcanite pelhams. The hard rubber coating softens the action of the curved Mullen mouth of this pelham bit giving space for the tongue, with no collapse on the bars and no real palate pressure. Hard rubber pelhams are best suited to horse that have enough space for a large mouthpiece and are ideal for novice riders using a stronger bit for the first time as the mouth is so mild. Pelhams are designed to be used with two reins, the 'snaffle' rein on the larger ring which should have a constant contact, and the curb rein is attached to the smaller loose bottom ring and is used when needed. The small hole in the shank just above the curb ring is for a lip strap, not essential but correct for showing and helps to keep the curb chain flat. If the rider wishes to use only one pair of reins, roundings can be used to join the snaffle and curb rings together and the reins go on the loop of leather to give an action on both mouthpiece and curb when the rein is pulled.
