The bed has wooden slats which are in perfect condition as we placed mdf boards between slats and mattress to protect the slats. These mdf sheets are available free with the bed frame if you wish them. The mattress cost over £350 new and has only every been used lightly in a spare room. It has also always had a waterproof protection sheet on so there are no marks or stains. The corner protection pads are still on the mattress these were never removed when we bought new.
