Our wood briquettes are a great alternative to firewood and logs for use in fireplaces, multifuel stoves, chimeneas and log boilers. This renewable biomass fuel is made from 100% compressed sawdust (sawmill byproduct) with nothing added. No additives or binders are required because natural lignin in the wood binds sawdust and shavings after pressure is applied. They have very low moisture (around 7%) and as a result very high calorific value of ca. kCal/kg. They do not spit or smoke because of the very low moisture content and are up to 50% more economical than logs when their heat value is taken into account. Larch is the hottest wood in terms of calorie content per kg, higher than even hardwoods like oak and ash, and has a beautiful light amber colour. They burn for 3 - 4 hours in a good stove and produce a steady heat with a good flame. Because they burn very hot and expand slightly in the fire, it is important not to overload your fire box. Each brick measures approximately 65mm x 90mm x 150mm. There are 12 briquettes in a 10kg bag and 96 x 10 kg bags (six rows) on a full pallet. They are very clean and easy to handle. This is a natural product, so a small amount of flaking can be expected. This does not affect product performance. The secret to maximising performance from these briquettes is to get them really hot before turning down the air flow. Thanks to this advanced technology, the briquettes are extremely dense and compact - over 2 x as dense as kiln-dried logs - and with a very smooth and slightly brownish surface giving a natural look and making these pleasant to handle. No additives or binders are added because natural lignin in the wood binds the sawdust. What are the briquettes like? They contain very little ash (0.41%) and moisture (10%), and as a result provide a very high heat output of approx. 17 MJ/kg. They do not expand, spark, or spit when burning. Each briquette measures approximately 90mm in diameter x 270mm length with a hole down the middle which creates additional draught and ensures the briquettes burn both inside and outside. There are five briquettes in a 10kg clear polythene bag. They are very clean and easy to handle. The pallet is shrink-wrapped and contains cardboard corners inside and black straps on the outside for a reliable and neat-looking package. Pallet sizes are: Full pallet - 96 x 10kg bags Half pallet - 48 x 10kg bags How to get the most out of this product? The briquettes burn as long as 4 hours or more in a good stove without expanding and produce good flame during the first minutes of burning and then glow giving a steady heat and maintaining their shape until reduction to a small amount of ash residue. They produce minimal ash and smoke. Place them on burning kindling wood to get them really hot and then turn down the air flow. Experiment with these to get the best performance from your stove set-up and you will be very impressed with these high calorie, low cost compressed wood burner logs.
