This is a hand-knotted, Keshan carpet, made of durable, natural materials. Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this carpet unique and emphasise the authentic and traditional character. Keshan (or Kashan) is located just north of the centre of Iran. Keshan is one of the resting places along the Silk Road. Characteristic for a Keshan is a beautifully designed medallion, trees and figurative patterns. There are also Keshans which are completely covered in floral patterns. The most common colours are red, blue and beige. Keshan carpets are durable, made of high-quality wool, often with a rich shine, on a cotton warp (bobbin thread). They're excellent carpets for regular use, with a high durability. Later on, Keshan carpets were also made in India, these are called oriental rugs. This is a used carpet that has become more beautiful and richer in character as a result of the natural ageing process. Condition: In beautiful, used condition. Measurements: ca. 240 x 165 cm.
