Incl. evaluation report. Albert Klijn, born in Amsterdam at 5 April , grew up in an environment filled with art. Father Henricus Klijn () was an illustrator and lithographer. He taught his sons Albert and the three years older Willem () at an early age to look at art and he pointed out the value of applied art and matching styles. This has a great influence on young Albert Klijn. After elementary school, he took an evening course for three years at the Tekenschool voor Kunstambachten in Amsterdam, during the day he worked in his father's workshop. He went on to train at the Quellinusschool, also in Amsterdam.Under the influence of the focus on the applied arts within the Jugendstil, the focus of Kijns' work was of a graphical nature during the twenties/thirties.
