Joslyn Manufacturing - American vintage industrial

Unique vintage industrial streetlamp from the US, s/40s, made by Joslyn Manufacturing. Due to their shape, the lamps are sometimes called 'Gumball' or 'Teardrop', they were used as street lighting. In the s/60s these lamps were replaced in bulk by more modern lamps and were mostly destroyed. This one was preserved fortunately, in a farm shack in California! Note the original, green porcelain insulator in undamaged condition. Lamp fully renovated. Top is polished to shine. Mid is unaltered original brushed aluminium. The glass has a beautiful check pattern, which gives a nice light effect. The glass has a small internal crack of approx. 7 cm at the rim; this is not perceptible on the outside. Only visible from a certain angle, please view the photo. Lamp has new wiring (white, approx. 150 cm), a new porcelain fitting (E27) and a new hanging eyelet. This lamp is definitely a unique part of American industrial history. Original, very good condition makes it a true eye-catcher. Height approx. 60 cm, width approx. 35 cm. Registered shipping. An iconic piece of industrial furniture from the french postal system Postal sorting desk with pigeon holes. We salvaged this piece from a closing post office in rural France. We had 5 of these all salvaged from one post office and all lovingly restored by us. This is the last piece so don't miss out! They don't come up for sale often. It was produced in the mid 60s from steel. We have completely cleaned the piece and treated it with a mat graphite paste. It retains much of its beautiful original patina with the wear and tear expected on a piece of hardworking industrial furniture.
