This magnificent, rare floor lamp was designed by the French engineer Jean-Louis Domecq for Jieldé, and was mainly used in factories, as a work light. The unique feature of this lamp is the hinge point. Typically, a loose cord is used in these pivoting lights, which causes friction and hence frequent breakage at the pivot points. The French engineer invented a safe, reliable and patented alternative in . Copper plates are placed between the pivot point, which conduct the current. Because of this, no cord damage can occur.
