Including engravings of Vinkeles and N. vd.MeerJohannes Florentius (Jan Floris) Martinet (Deurne, 12 July - Amsterdam, 4 August ) was a nature historian, writer, pedagogue, theologian and preacher in Gellicum en Rhenoy (), Edam () and Zutphen (). He wrote the Katechismus der Natuur that was translated many times and was used in schools into the twentieth century. The place where he wrote this work was the (now so-called) Martinetkoepel on the Zutphen city wall. Martinet died after a stroke in in Amsterdam and was buried there in the Nieuwe Kerk.Martinet was married but had no children. His last name lives on in the family of Loenen Martinet, akin to Martinet’s cousin and pupil Johannes Martinet Kuipers. The house where Martinet was born was demolished in .
