I am looking for a new home for my 5 year (6 in Jan) 16hh ISH, dark bay. He is a safe hack which is what I have only used him for, he hacks out both alone and in company, is very good in heavy traffic of all kinds and good in open spaces, he is not sharp and doesn't hot up. Not spooky, may look at something new but a bit of leg and he rides on past. He is good to catch - comes to the gate, groom, tack up and stands at the mounting block, good with farrier and vet, he is good in his stable and happy to live in or out. His previous owner jumped him and he travelled to me in a trailer. He is however strong to lead and frequently tries to bite me - this is why I am looking to sell him as I feel he needs a more confident, experienced person to manage him on the ground as he knows he can get the better of me and I have lost confidence (I have asthma and struggle when trying to control him when being lead).... so find myself riding him less therefore I've made the decision to look for an older horse with a more laid back temperament. After much consideration, I have decided to sell Alfie. He is a 16.1hh 9 year old Irish sports horse. He's a lovely horse to be around with great manners in and out of the stable and can be handled by people of any experience. He Will happily stand and be pampered for hours and will stand great for the farrier. He will need a confident, sympathetic rider as he is quite green in the school and can be excitable at times however is never nasty with it, will lunge using voice commands and loves to jump but hasn't jumped consistently due to me concentrating on his flatwork. He has bags of potential in any activity for someone who has the time to put into him. Alfie will hack alone or in company and will happily school in fields always having brakes whilst ridden in a snaffle. Alfie is very anxious when loading and does take a bit of encouragement so would be more suitable for someone who doesn't want to go out competing often or has the time to work on this as he will load just often not first time. Sam is a 14 year old Thoroughbred/ Irish Draught who is registered as 15.3 but is easily 16hh. Sam is being sold through no fault of is own but due to my lack of time due to college. Sam is rode in a snaffle bit at all times and genuinely enjoys schooling work, having 3 beautiful paces and always aiming to please. Sam has competed in local shows and is and always comes out in the ribbons as he is a real mover with confidence and power. Sam loves to jump and has jumped a meter with me but has the potential for so much higher. At times while jumping sam can get forward and rarely adds in a tiny buck however this is only due to excitement as it is his favourite activity but comes back easily to a firm hand. Carrying a whip is enough for sam as he genuinely aims to please and responds so much more to a gentle but firm hand when needed-he hates getting wrong! He is very forgiving when riding and loves to be praised. Sam loves to hack out along woodland tracks but may need some encouragement occasionally while going through water which is his one hate. Sam is not a novice ride as in new places at first he can be quite nervy and need a a confident rider to push him forward and has his quirks now and again but the good far far outweighs the bad always. He is really rewarding and trusting, once there is a bond he becomes much bolder and always always aims to please,listening to both leg and voice commands and always trying his best. Sam enjoys living out in the summer and comes in during the winter months. He is easy to catch, shoe, groom, tack up etc- his manners are excellent apart from the odd head rub out off affection. This is always really really reluctant sale however I feel sam could really improve and go far with someone else and don't want such a special boy to go to waste.
