Donegal. They are absolutely lovely and have sat in the sideboard drawer for 33 years untouched.Ardara lies on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal. It is a village of just two streets and it is widely known as Ireland's capital in the manufacture of handwoven tweed and hand knitwear. Tweed and knitwear from Ardara is stocked by leading stores around the world. Ardara is one of the most attractive villages in Donegal and is set in a wide valley where the Owentocher River enters Loughros More Bay. It is an important centre for the manufacture of Donegal homespun tweeds, and many are engaged also in other crafts such as hand-knitting, hosiery and hand-embroidery.Any yellow marks appearing on the photographs are not on the linen but are the aging Sellotape used to adhere the pink bow and to secure the placemats within the packaging. The 8 mats are still arranged beautifully within the original packaging and have never been removed, or even touched. They have a floral/leafy design and have laced edges. They sit in a shallow cardboard box of which the sides have a couple of squashed places from being in the drawer all these years. Over that is placed a large sheet of cellophane which is fastened at the back with tape. Ā£, Folkestone, .
