Indochina: Es ist noch nicht lange her, dass der durchschnittliche Europäer die Länder Indochinas vor allem als Krisen- oder Kriegsregion wahrgenommen hat, oder bestenfalls als aufstrebende Tiger-Staaten mit einem ausgeprägten Niedriglohnsektor. In der Tat unterscheidet sich das Alltagsleben in Laos, Kambodscha und Vietnam erheblich von der 'Normalität' nach mitteleuropäischen Maßstäben. In diesen mitunter für uns so exotisch anmutenden Alltag einzutauchen hat ebenso seinen Reiz wie ein Besuch der beeindruckenden historischen Schätze dieser uralten Kulturnationen. Unsere erste Reise geht nach Hanoi, wo wir die erstaunlichen Parallelen zwischen Vietnam und Deutschland vor Augen geführt bekommen. Die beeindruckende Erfolgsgeschichte des modernen Vietnam begutachten wir in Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt, das auch die meisten seiner Bewohner noch Saigon nennen. Con Son, eine kleine Insel vor der vietnamesischen Küste und eine Art 'Guantanamo Bay' des Vietnamkrieges, ist unser drittes Ziel. In Cuc Phuong statten wir Vietnams Regenwald einen Besuch ab. Wieder in Hanoi erfahren wir, welches das ideale Verkehrsmittel in Vietnam ist, und wie man es tunlichst benutzen sollte. Danach besuchen wir Ho Chi Minh im Mausoleum. Die uralte laotische Königsstadt Luang Prabang ist unser nächstes Ziel, bevor wir in Battambang einiges über die schmerzliche Geschichte Kambodschas erfahren. In Angkor Wat, einem Muss für Indochina-Reisende, beenden wir unsere akustische Reise.
