Ideal Back Garden Chicken

Our beautiful speckled hen (Rhode Island Red/Maran cross) doesn't seem happy with us anymore since we introduced some new hens into our poultry set-up. She has always been a very quiet bird, but for the last few weeks she has preferred to keep apart from the other birds and has stopped laying on a regular basis (she used to lay every morning). She is not broody, just preferring to sit or potter around on her own. She has lovely feathers, is in excellent health and would be ideal for someone who worries about their flock annoying their neighbours, as even when she was laying she never announced it or made any loud noises at all. The rest of our birds now function happily as a group and we have enough eggs, so we think she may be happier in a different hen house in a caring new home. Read More
