MEDIEVAL BRITAIN.   BRONZE DECORATIVE SQUARE TYPE BROOCH.     13th/14th CENTURY AD.     21 mm  THIS SMALL AND DELICATE BROOCH HAS A SERRATED PATTERN AROUND THE FLAT PART OF THE BROOCH AND STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL PIN AND HAS A NICE EVEN GREEN PATINA.  THIS SMALL DELICATE BROOCH WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN WORN BY A LADY.    THESE  ANNULAR BROOCHES ARE TO FASTEN THE MEDIEVAL GARMENTS AND ARE THE EQUIVALENT OF A MODERN DAY SAFETY PIN RATHER THAN THE JEWELLERY BROOCHES OF TODAY ALTHOUGH SOME WERE QUITE DECORATIVE LIKE THIS ONE.      FOUND IN NORFOLK.
