REPLICA Of Pre Columbian/Meso american
You are bidding on this PRE COLUMBIAN/MESOAMERICAN REPLICA TERRA COTTA "BULL PITCHER" From an estate sale, this is a very unique item. It is in very good condition, but does have some chips and fleabites consistent with terra cotta pottery. This is a hand crafted, terra cotta pitcher that is shaped like a bull. It is hand painted on both sides with flowers, leaves and vines and it wears some sort of necklace. It is engraved on the bottom "VITORINO", which I am assuming to be the artist or maker. It measures approximately 8" across from snout to edge of handle (which is the tail), 8-1/8" tall to the top of the ears, 4-1/4" deep and the bottom diameter is 3-1/8". After a lot of research, I was not able find any information on this piece or the name "Vitorino" relating to this piece. I did consult a pottery expert who explained that it appears to be in the Pre-Columbian/Mesoamerican style, but that it looks like a replica. A very unique and interesting piece to add to your collection. I am not an expert and the condition I have listed is only my opinion based on the criteria listed below. Therefore, please review all pictures carefully prior to bidding to form your own opinion of the item's condition and if you have any questions, please e-mail me. Payment is due within 48 hours of end of auction, unless prior arrangements have been made please. Thanks for looking.
