Rural Analysis and Management: An Earth Science Approach to

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Tapiador, Francisco, PUBLISHER: Springer, This handbook presents the foundations of modern rural analysis. The first part of the book presents a comprehensive description of the elements of rural analysis, providing the basis for a synthetic view of rural landscapes in the second part. Included is a comprehensive description and explanation of the rural landscapes from throughout the world, which leads to a complete management scheme for rural landscapes. The text covers topics such as global change, the role of information technologies in rural areas, gender relations and how to bridge the gap between scientific analysis and decision-making processes. A fully-worked example is provided, illustrating how all the analyses and techniques shown can be applied in a real case.

Rural People and Communities in the 21st Century: Resilience

Rural People and Communities in the 21st Century: Resilience

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Brown, David L. / Schafft, Kai A., PUBLISHER: Polity Press, Rural people and communities continue to play important social, economic and environmental roles at a time in which societies are rapidly urbanizing, and the identities of local places are increasingly subsumed by flows of people, information and economic activity across global spaces. However, while the organization of rural life has been fundamentally transformed by institutional and social changes that have occurred since the mid-twentieth century, rural people and communities have proved resilient in the face of these transformations. This book examines the causes and consequences of major social and economic changes affecting rural communities and populations during the first decades of the twenty-first century, and explores policies developed to ameliorate problems or enhance opportunities. Primarily focused on the U.S. context, while also providing international comparative discussion, the book is organized into five sections each of which explores both socio-demographic and political economic aspects of rural transformation. It features an accessible and up-to-date blend of theory and empirical analysis, with each chapter's discussion grounded in real-life situations through the use of empirical case-study materials. Rural People and Communities in the 21st Century is intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in rural sociology, community sociology, rural and/or population geography, community development, and population studies.

Mother cat in need of rural location

Mother cat in need of rural location

We found a family of cats behind our bins on 8th July at our leisure centre in Bournemouth. These were originally dumped and abandoned in a box at Tesco. The kittens all have homes now but I cannot find somewhere for the mother. She has been neutered and RSPCA say she would be happiest in stables or at a barn. It was all arranged for today and at the last minute I was let down. Please can someone help? She will be microchipped and of course free. After what has happened to her she deserves so much love. RSPCA say they will only keep her one more day. She won't ask for much, only shelter, food and space. Please help her. Ad ID:

The Golden Year of Fan Cheng-Ta: A Chinese Rural Sequence

The Golden Year of Fan Cheng-Ta: A Chinese Rural Sequence

ISBN: , SKU: , AUTHOR: Bullett, Gerald / Chi, Tsui, PUBLISHER: Cambridge University Press, Eight centuries divide us from Fan Cheng-ta, but across this gap of time his voice may still be heard - suave, familiar, peaceable - in a cycle of small poems which, reflecting the Chinese rural year, seem as fresh today as when they first came from his brush. The task of rendering the quality of Chinese poetry into English is temptingly difficult; and success in such an enterprise is rare and rewarding. How it came to be attempted by an English poet with the help of a Chinese scholar is told briefly in Mr Bullett's preface. The current edition is a re-issue of Mr Bullett's text.

This lovely rural picture is a real eye catcher. Don't know anything about it but was offered £ a few years ago. Cannot make out its signature exactly who the artist is. But I don't think the frame is the original frame. Whoever buys it will need to get a professional cleaner to bring up its original vibrant colours, I dare not even try to clean it.
