Hofner Senator late 50s/early 60s Archtop guitar. Acoustic and electric pickups installed by previous owner for some reason. Set up for D standard tuning (every string tuned a whole tone down) would need resetting up to take the tension of standard tuning. Comes with Hiscox Lifelite hard case.

I'm selling this beautiful hollow body guitar with a hardcase as I don't ever get round to playing it.. I bought it on a whim as I was drawn in by it whilst browsing. I play a telecaster, and I need the funds to buy something more similar sounding for my back-up guitar when playing live. It sounds great unplugged and sublime once plugged in, smooth tones, easy on the fingers and amazing on the eyes! If you like jazz, or grooves, or you're a songwriter this thing will be your companion!

Hofner Senator Acoustic Guitar

Hofner Senator Archtop Acoustic Jazz guitar This Hofner Senator is an early one. Overall, it’s in good condition, with some honest marks and scrapes. It’s loud and has a lovely sound. The binding is all in good condition and the guitar doesn’t have any splits. Someone has fitted a neck pickup (Now removed) in the past and the small screw holes can be seen at the bottom of the neck (see photos). This doesn't affect the guitar at all. If you decided to fit a neck pickup yourself you should be able to use the existing holes. The lacquer finish has some minor checking as you’d expect for a guitar with the original finish. The headstock is in good shape. The tuners have been upgraded with a set of Grover "Deluxe" tuners. The five triple-dot neck markers are all there and the Rosewood fingerboard is in good condition. As can be seen from the photos it still has the original Hofner compensator tail piece. The serial number of the guitar is which can be seen through one the "F" holes. The action at the 12th fret is about 2.5 to 3mm. Good for a guitar that’s nearly 60 years old. Overall a beautiful guitar, a great player, and a genuine piece of history, with a powerful acoustic tone, low action and when fitted with a pickup will give that original early 60s sound when amplified. I am sorry to sell it but a I feel such a quality vintage instrument should belong to someone who can spend more time than me actually playing it. This guitar would maybe suit a jazz player looking for a reasonable priced archtop with a big mellow sound or someone who appreciates a quality vintage guitar, again at a reasonable price. Beautiful early 57 hofner guitar Serial no. The wood is beautiful, lovely colour Great condition for its age. My dad bought this from a Liverpool musician in the late 60s intending to learn to play but it never happened. I had a go at junior school in the 70s and managed to damage it a bit (hairline split to wood near neck... See photos) Other than that, its been lonely and is in need of a new home. Beautiful tone.
