Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this rug unique and emphasize the authentic and traditional character. Heriz is located in the North West of Iran. You can recognize a Heriz rug by its rectangular medallion and its angular edge patterns. They are very sustainable rugs of high-quality wool on a cotton warp (bobbin thread). Heriz rugs are excellent for use and have have a long lifespan. Heriz is a collective name for the entire knotting area, especially around the city of Heriz, among others for the following villages: Ahar, Bakhshayes, Goravan and Heriz. In patterning and knotting all have these carpets the same features. The warp and weft are made of thick cotton and the pile thread is made from two-ply and very robust sheep's wool. Most provinces produce the rugs with medallions.Heriz rugs, because of their very good durability, classic patterning and usually relatively cheap prices (with the exception of old and antique pieces, these are getting ever higher prices), are very popular in the market.
