Six Goldline Chickens (Hens) for sale due to us reducing our flock size to cope with family needs and our disabilities. We have to reduce our small (21 hen) flock to keep giving them the very best of care. These chickens have been our PETS and any home should be prepared to continue to treat them as such. Goldlines: These girls have a very inquisitive nature and will certainly keep you entertained with their antics. They are ideal hens for first time chicken keepers, especially families with young children, as they are very friendly and easy to tame. A Goldline will quite happily eat from your hand once she gets to know you! They have pretty brown/red feathers with white under-feathers and tails. These girls have a traditional “farmyard chicken” look about them. They are very similar in nature and appearance to Blacktail hens. Goldline hybrids are one of our most prolific layers and will provide you with approximately fabulous large brown eggs per year. All of them are healthy girls, laying most days, have been wormed and are friendly although not hand tame (mostly due to time as above!) They have been fed on a high quality layers pellet feed and are free range over our 1/3 acre garden nearly all day long. They have a large run for the few hours they are in. They are all about months old and have had their first moult. They have most of their feathers back now and are looking great again. They are all of a good weight although Goldlines aren't fat chickens by nature (as my young son says 'they're egg-laying chickens, not eating chickens'!) Ex commercial egg laying hens / chickens in Melton Mowbray

Fresh Start for Hens have ex commercial egg laying hens available for re-homing on Aug 13th and Aug 20th. They're around 72 weeks old which is much younger than their natural life span. They're no longer considered commercially viable to the egg industry although most of them will continue to lay regular eggs for many months or even years. We re-home them into safe, secure environments where they can live out the rest of their lives. This may be into back gardens / allotments / paddocks / care homes / schools etc. They make lovely little pets and most become tame and happy to be handled in next to no time. We ask a minimum donation of £2.50 per bird to cover running costs of our rescues.

Fresh Start For Hens is a non-profit making organisation who rehome ex-commercial egg laying hens throughout England and Wales. We have a rehoming across the country (including Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire for the East Midlands area) on 27th February and will have over hens available. They are 17 months old and will still be laying (although we cannot guarantee individual hens will lay). These hens will be coming from a barn system and have never set foot outside. Without rehoming, they would go to slaughter having never seen the sun or walked on grass. We are looking for loving permanent homes, where they can live out their natural lives. Most are very friendly and once they know you, they will be more than happy to be stroked and handled. They make lovely little pets. We ask just £2.50 per hen, which goes toward our transport costs. Reluctantly selling three very different chickens, Orpington, Light Sussex and possibly a Rhode Island Red (black) but not sure. They are approx two years old, in good health and laying eggs, on average about eight per week. I would like to sell them with their coop which is in good condition and run which I will dismantle for you. I will also give plenty of food and hay and all the accessories to set you up so you will not need to buy anything. The price I have asked for includes everything.
