Hardwood Writing Desk / Bureau with bookshelf This was given to my father in , so it's around 70 years old. It's in very good condition. The only damage is a section of one of the round feet has broken away. The piece is still there.I've not attempted to glue or repair it. All solid wood. Large double doored cupboard with a large drawer above it. Support arms extend automaticaly as the front lid is opened. Leather inset in the lid for writing on. Lid lock still works and the key is there Sliding glass doors to the upper shelves. Upper shelving can be removed (2 recessed screws) for transportation. Lovely old hardwood writing desk. Approx. 43" high, 30" wide and 18" deep. Good overall condition. One drawer handle has been replaced with a copper one (home made). This is a newly refurbished vintage writing bureau with storage space. This bureau has been painted in the specialist furniture Annie Sloan chalk paint in a beautiful shade of grey. The inside of the bureau and inside the drawers I have painted in a lovely contrasting shade of lilac.I have then sympathetically slightly distressed in keeping with the style of shabby "N"chic and then sealed to protect. The unit has three large drawers so plenty of storage space and all drawers have there original handles. The writing desk has two small drawers and shelving. Vintage oak Bureau / writing desk with drop down leaf, This lovely elegant design desk is in very good condition.I have no idea of the age of this but assume it dates from at least the s / s as it has been in the family for as long as I can remember. But please make up your own mind about the age based on the photos and more experience than I have! We are selling this only as part of necessary down-sizing.It has been a treasured piece of family furniture and has been well looked after and regularly cleaned with furniture polish. As far as I can tell the wood is oak / oak veneer, but the back panel is just regular stained plywood.The exterior is largely unmarked - see photos. The lid is very slightly warped in that the top left corner doesn't sit as tight against the frame as the rest - see photo 3. The interior of the desk top has signs of use as would be expected (see photos), but the exterior is in very good clean, undamaged condition. The hinges and stays are in good working order. There are two original keys for the brass lock in the lid which also works perfectly.The drawers pull in and out smoothly. The handles show some signs of wear to the "brass" finish.The desk stands 95cm high x 42cm deep x 59cm wide. The writing flap measures 55cm wide x 28cm deep and is 69cm off the floor. £, Bristol,.
