Handmade oriental rug. Antique Kazak Akstafa 221x137 cm,
Welcome to Passion d'Orient: The term Kazak is used generically to classify a heterogeneous group of carpets from various areas of the Caucasus. The nineteenth century Kazaks were knotted entirely in wool, they were carpets with long and shiny fabrics, and with large coloured designs of geometric type varying according to the production area. During the 20th century, the beauty of colours and original and fanciful designs, always made from memory by women who passed them from mother to daughter, were rediscovered over the centuries, thus transmitting this great tradition. This is how the Caucasian carpets began to be appreciated and became more sought-after, until now, by enthusiasts and collectors before reaching remarkable values and achieving a prime position in the panorama of oriental carpets.Manufacture: Knotted by hand.
