Chajim Bloch (), Hasidic writer and rabbi, gives an insight in this book into the culture of the eastern, Hasidic Jews before WW II. These Jews stayed in their centuries old ghetto in Prague, separated from the rest of the population. This book sketches the life of these Jews in 20 legends. An important figure in this culture and in the book is Golem, a puppet of clay or loam, that comes to life after speaking a wonder spell.Bloch was arrested by the nazis in and brought to a concentration camp, though was able to escape to the USA.The book is in good condition.
