Hand made Canadian Strip Canoe (4.88 meters) 16' Prospector including 2 extended Moose head paddles

Hand made traditional Canadian wood strip canoe with 1 layer of fiberglass on interior and 1 on the exterior, 6 coats of Eco Epoxy throughout then 8 coats of satin varnish throughout. The (4.88 meters) 16' Prospector includes 2 handmade extended Moose head design paddles for stand up control (Both are also fiberglass wrapped). Mahogany and Okoume hull, Walnut, Okoume and Maple decks, gunwales and yoke. Waterproof compartment in the stern (No hatch fitted). All undersides of the decks have also been epoxy fiber glassed. Boat is lightweight and usable/carry able by one person, yoke is perfectly balanced for shoulders. 2 Hemp wrapped seats. Lovely wooden 2 person canadian style canoe. ft glides through the water and easily manoeuvres. Water tight but has age related marks etc but nothing that a new coat of paint and varnish wont fix. Selling due to lack of space for winter storage... Very reluctant sale i must admit. Comes with two oars and two life jackets. (One oar may need abit of restoration; still usable though)

Vintage Wooden Canoe Canadian Type.

Beautiful rare old twelve foot wooden canoe that dates from just post war I guess. You will not see many like this! I bought it from the boatyard in Dedham in & replaced a few ribs, rubbed it down & varnished it. I made the bottom boards & folding seats.The canoe comes with two old original paddles & two newer ones. The side planks are hardwood & clenched to the ribs with copper nails in the traditional way & the floor is flat marine ply, so the canoe floats in very shallow water. There is a very small area of rot on the rear deck shown in the last photo, & the canoe could do with a quick sand & re-varnish to tidy it. Our children loved the canoe, but sadly it has not been used for about 30 years, so it is time for someone else to enjoy it now. Canadian canoe - 15` Venture Ontario 2 person plus open canoe

This is a used 15` long open canoe, which I believe to be a Venture Ontario. It has two ash and webbing seats one of which is almost new, and an ash central yoke. The interior is clean and damage free although the outer skin is scuffed and scratched from use. The bow and stern have shaped Kevlar strips glued on which although not pretty serve to protect the ends of the boat when beaching or grounding. Easily manhandled ashore by two people, and is just about manageable over short distances by one person (weight is about 26kg apparently - check out details and comments on Songofthepaddle website). It could be used by an experienced paddler for white water, but is also a lovely boat for touring or day trips.
