D.S. Albert Ventrice was,according to his station sergeant, the worst copper in Yarmouth. His area commander considered him the worst copper in Norfolk. In order to get rid of him they gave him a murder to solve and a team of misfits. When the squad failed the Norfolk police would get rid of all their useless officers in one swoop. Every one [including D.S. Ventrice] expected this failure. No one was on his side with the exception of one lady. That special lady was a lady called luck! The noise woke her, and made her frown. Her washing machine was going into pre-wash. She knew it was turned off, she removed all plugs from sockets before retiring. She was alone, reluctantly she would have to go and sort it. From the top of the stairwell she could see into her dark kitchen, a shadow on the floor moved, the back door was open. Slowly she moved back up the stairs feeling with her foot eyes fixed on the shadow. The stair she trod on creaked, she panicked and fled to the bathroom, vomit in her mouth and her bowels threatening to explode. As she grabbed her phone from the bedroom, on the way, that stair creaked again.....
