This quirky old piece of art (c’s) is taken from the famous poem about the Old Lady who lived in a shoe, with so many children she didn’t know what to do… Anyway, I’d like her to go to a new home. She is about 5.5” high (14cms) x 9” long (23cms) and 4” deep (10cms) and has a few little marks on her. She is MADE IN ENGLAND and her makers mark says: Lingard, Websters and Turnstall. Read more

The Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe - Rare Beswick

Beautiful rare Beswick figurine of 'The Old Lady Who Lived in a Shoe' which was found in an old cardboard box when moving house, so I know very little about it's history. According to the valuer this is the Rolls Royce of figurines and has been valued at £. It was manufactured by Beswick in either or 46 and is a FIRST EDITION as the writing on the base is in gold. It measures approximately 3 1/2" from heel to toe and is 2 3/4" high. There is some crazing especially on the top, however, apparently, this is usual on figurines made at this time and simply shows it is genuine. Otherwise it looks perfect - A bit grubby but too frightened to clean it. The information on the bottom says BEATRIX POTTER'S THE OLD LADY WHO LIVED IN A SHOE F. WARNE & CO. LTD. COPYRIGHT BESWICK ENGLAND (in an oval also in gold lettering) L11 or 41 is believed to be the artist who made it I hope I have recorded all the details accurately, but if you need any further information, please email I am not at all knowledgeable on figurines so have taken expert advice before listing this item. Vintage Yellow ceramic teapot with chrome insulated cover

Vintage yellow ceramic teapot with snug fitted removable chrome metal insulated cover/cosy and cork stopper. Heavy. Think this may date back to c's? No makers mark on either the teapot or the cover, but cover is marked "Made in England" along the bottom edge and teapot has "Made in England" faintly embossed on the base. The handle on the insulated cover and the handle on the cork stopper are a type of plastic - maybe Bakelite? This is still in excellent pre-owned condition - it looks like it has never been used. There are a few small surface scratches on the chrome cover/cosy. The yellow ceramic teapot has no obvious chips/cracks/crazing. Found at the back of a cupboard while having a clear out - probably been there for some time! A really interesting piece of kitchenalia history.
