Georgian Mahogany Floor Standing Bow fronted Corner Cabinet
A floor standing Georgian bow fronted, corner cabinet raised on three stout legs. Beautifully crafted in rich mahogany with a moulded top frieze and gently scalloped apron. The cabinet has very attractive detail including inlays of box wood stringing, quarter fans and central rosettes edged with olive wood on both doors and a satinwood fan on the top back quarter. Retaining the original brass hinges, escutcheons and key, the shelved interior has the typical chalk paint finish in an eau de nil shade, with the lower shelf having a concave curve that would enable bottles to be stored if used as a drinks cabinet. Minor professional restoration is evident to a small area near the bottom of the right-hand door which does not detract from this extremely attractive and fine piece of Georgian furniture which has retained a wonderful colour and patina.
