Rhombodera megaera (Giant Shield Mantis) (2nd instar). Beautiful Mantis and a joy to raise. This is a nice hardy Mantis that can tolerate a wide range in temperature and humidity, as such this is a perfect 'beginner' species for people new to the hobby, but also, is an old favourite for experienced keepers too. NOTE: They are 2nd instar and so are ~1.5cm in length. As such, they will take large fruit flies (D. hydei) for prey just now. Please feel free to contact me, as I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding care. Please be sure to ask, or ensure you know how to take care of these items before buying them. PLEASE NOTE: These items will be packaged safely and secured appropriately, and provided with additional heat (heat pack) wherever temperatures require such additions in order to ensure their safety and health. This listing is for captive bred Sphodromantis viridis nymphs. This strain is from an island off the coast of Syria. These nymphs are already feeding on bluebottles. I don't sell nymphs smaller than this to ensure that you get top quality animals with high survivorship. From every egg containing up to 350 nymphs I only raise the strongest 10%. Check the photographs to see the difference a few moults make! These babies are F2 and F3 generation. They are extremely aggressive and cannot be housed together.
