This ‘Speciaal voor u-tje’ contains a nice dedication to the renowned cartoonist Yrrah (Harry). Carmiggelt thanks Yrrah for a drawing he had given.Who was Yrrah?Yrrah (alias was his mirrored first name), born as Harry Lammertink, was a Dutch cartoonist. He grew up in Apeldoorn. He moved to Amsterdam in and started work as a graphic draughtsman and developed himself into an American style cartoonist in a short period of time.Yrrah’s drawings were usually exposing the shadow side of man. Illness, death and decay were central themes. This might be related to his weak health that he had to deal with since childhood. He had a great dislike of religion and fascism though was obsessed with women. The Roman Catholic Party of The Netherlands once asked questions about a cartoon showing a pregnant nun walking away from a statue of Christ. Read more
