A Large Early Victorian Carved Mahogany Fireside Arm Chair Great Shape A large early Victorian carved mahogany fireside armchair, upholstered in a red velvet material, and the chair having a great shape to it. The chair frame is made from mahogany which has a good colour and grain patination. The chair is formed with the back being shaped with the top rail being carved with a blind fret carving and then with a rounded to each side. The front of the chair is formed with it having carved and bent wooden supports which have fluted carvings and again roundels and circular and lines designs. The front legs of the chair are turned tapered and fluted again. The back legs are shaped backwards. The front of the chair is bow fronted. The chair is upholstered in a red velvet material, which has diamond shaped designs on it. The arm supports are also upholstered. The chair is real comfy even after all these years and it dates to around . Size Height 40” Width ” Depth 39.5” Condition The condition of the chair is very good, can be used as is or could be re-upholstered to whatever material suits, it has been re-upholstered at some point already. The frame is very good with light scuffs, scratches and marks all down to age. It has newer casters on it which probably should be removed. Read More

There is a makers plaque on the wooden slot in seat surrounding the chamber pot - please refer to photograph There has been a break in the rear right upright on the chair at some period in time which has been solidly repaired and in my opinion does not detract from this item. Genuine and Rare Circa Victorian Captains Chair. Beautiful, original and exceptionally rare Victorian Circa Chesterfield style captains office chair. All modern designs were based on this chair a fine example of traditional English furniture at its best. It's upholstered in very thick cattle hide coloured in antique oxblood with a very solid mahogany frame. A simply gorgeous suite that would suit both traditional and contemporary interiors a real feature piece that would look great in any room. The chair is in excellent condition however the leather has perished slightly on the end of the right arm but in no way affects the functionality of the chair. Also there has been a repair done to the caster fitting on the right leg but this is very solid and has been very professionally done. Measures H 70cm x W 73cm x D 46cm, seat height 45cm.
