Otherwise the interior and the engravings are in excellent condition. With 62 (of 63) folding engraved plates and an engraved frontispiece. The image of ‘Het Huis te Ysselstein’ is missing. Letter piece mentions ‘deel I’, title engraving ‘deel II’. However, the book is complete in just one volume. Contains beautiful engravings of Leiden, Scheveningen, Woerden, Muiden and the Brittenburg.¶ Famous work with images of various castles and ruins as they were known and rediscovered in the 18th century. The engravings are all made by Jacobus Schijnvoet, but only half of them are made after a print by Roghman: 27 engravings can be traced to still existing drawings of Roghman, and of the five of which the source is unknown, perhaps one or two are also engraved after a drawing by Roghman. The others are engravings after drawings by Jacobus Schijnvoet himself, by Ludolf Smids, or after prints by C.J. Visser, J. v.d. Ulft, J. Goeree, J. v.d. Velde, and others.
