The battle of Oosterweel (Austruweel, Ousterweel) occurred on 13 March at the polder village of Oosterweel, northwest of Antwerp.Some consider the battle of Oosterweel the (historic) beginning of the Eighty Years' War. However, many wars from history have a nice round number and length and name (Hundred Years' War, Thirty Years' War), hence the battle of Heiligerlee in was listed as the "official" starting point of the war.
