Original edition of 28 b/w drawings and 4 color lithographies made by Masereel when he was fleeing the German invasion in France in June .The lithographies were printed by Mourlot in Paris, the reproductions of the drawings by G. Duvel. The book was designed by Jean Picart le Doux and was published by Pierre Tisné in Paris, in a limited edition of copies. This copy is one of the copies on Aussédat (N° 681). The book is rather rare, as many copies have been torn apart in order to sell the 4 color lithographs separately.Book size: 21.4 x 27.3 cms; 7 + 77 pages (softcover with printed dust wrapper). The cover is clean, but the dust wrapper shows foxing; the inside of the book is clear and crisp. Binding is firm. I am a collector myself, and I am selling this rare book because I managed to acquire one of the 350 copies on vélin lana bélier. For some reason, the color lithographies seem more vibrant on the Aussédat paper of this copy than on the somewhat darker vélin paper. Read More
