Gresley Old Hall was built in by Sir Christopher Alleyn, who was Mayor of London, on the site of the old Gresley Priory. The original hall was built from the rubble of the priory which once stood there after being demolished. In John Alleyn rebuilt the hall that you see today. In the mid 18th century the house had an estate of 600 acres and was set in a fenced park, but in the house was said to be ?hastening fast to decay? and the property was subsequently dismembered for coal mining, the house tenanted as a farm and the outbuildings converted for use as a pottery in . Located on various floors, some of which have not been touched since the 19th Century (bare walls, creaky floorboards, Victorian graffiti). It has a very eerie atmosphere and sometimes you get the feeling that you are being watched. If anyone is up for the challenge, a lone vigil in the attic area is a must for any avid paranormal investigator. The list of Paranormal events recorded in this building is very big but includes EVPs, glass movement, Ouija Board action, footsteps heard around the landing area and going up to the attic.
