Egyptian Revival Faience Scarab Copper Bracelet, C. or earlier??? Description: Lot: Antique Egyptian Revival Faience Scarab Bracelet. The lot comprising: turquoise glazed faience scarab bracelet in a copper with wrapped wire decoration, probably made in the s-30s (unmarked, together with a string of 6 scarab form beads (enough to create a bracelet), the underside of each scarab with hieroglyphs. The age of the scarabs is unknown; however, we believe they were likely made in the Late 19th-Early 20th C. Dimensions: Approx 7.5" x 2 x.5" Condition: There are light scratches/abrasions to the surface of the scarabs. A few tiny chips out of scarabs mostly one see photos. For the age the bracelet is in very good condition.

Ancient  Egyptian blue-green faience Amulet of Anubis, god of the Underworld. Late Period, ca. B.C. Egyptian Amulet of Anubis, god of the Underworld. A blue-green faience amulet of Anubis, with the head of a jackal, measuring 36 mm high, pierced for suspension. Repaired, lower part is from a different piece.some faience remaining, Egypt, Late Period, ca. B.C. Anubis was the Egyptian god of the dead, tombs and embalming. Anubis was depicted with the body of a man and the distinctive black head of a jackal or dog. The underworld was called Duat and believed to be full of terrible, great dangers. Anubis greeted the souls in the Underworld and was believed to protect them on their journey. The jackal headed god was also associated with the ritual of mummification. According to the creation myth in ancient Egyptian mythology he was believed to be the son of the God Osiris and the Goddess Nephthys. Provenance:   Ex. P rivate NYC collection..,

The Pataikos is a minor deity in ancient Egypt who was strongly related to the dwarf god Bes. He was a protective deity, associated mostly with pregnant women and small children. Provenance:   Ex. Repaired, lower part from a different amulet, most faience remaining, Egypt, Late Period, ca. B.C. Taweret was created from a blending of lion, hippo, crocodile, and human female attributes. The three animals were some of the fiercest species found in ancient Egypt and combining their strengths produced a most potent deity and amulet. Taweret's particular responsibility was the protection of women during pregnancy and childbirth.
