Mir - 400 x 80 cm. - long, oriental runner in baby-blue - in
This is a hand-knotted, Mir rug, made of durable, natural materials. Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this carpet unique and emphasise its authentic and traditional character. Mir carpets are knotted in the mountainous area in and around Arak in western Iran.Characteristic for a Mir is the contemporary design, called Boteh or Paisley pattern, a drop-shape with the pointy end in one direction. A Mir often has a continuous pattern, but there are some with medallion and corner patterns. Mir carpets are durable rugs made of wool on a cotton warp (bobbin thread); they often are thick, full carpets with a particularly high durability.Later on, Mir carpets were also made in India, in that case they are called oriental rugs. This is a used carpet, these carpets usually become more beautiful and richer in character due to the natural ageing process.Condition:Beautiful, used condition.Size:Approx. 400 x 80 cm.Main colour:Baby-blue.Accent colours:Rust brown, pink, yellow/green, cream and blue.Specifications: A lot of nap; rich luster.Signs of wear:Fringe on one side of lesser quality. Please view the photos for your own impression. This lot will be shipped by registered post, with Track & Trace.X133.
