Eugenio PARDINI (Italian, ) Dimensions of the artwork: 107x54cms Overall dimensions: 119x66x5cms Antique arch of a door (gilding done by the painter) with solid wood base. Pencil signature by the artist + artist’s signature/title on the back written with a black marker. Excellent condition and presentation. Biography: Born in Viareggio on April , by a family of sailors. Regarding his self-taught training he declared: «In a room in Palazzo Paolina I made the first "black temples" with the artist Umberto Bertolozzi. In the Bonaparte garden, among holm oaks, magnolias and the pawing of Napoleonic horses, I experienced my first childhood games. I felt very young the love for art. My mother, alone, knew how to initiate me to life: my father had died young, after the hardships of the sea. He was a true navigator. I learned the art in museums of Tuscany: Pisa, Lucca, then Florence, Arezzo, Siena. I looked at the Middle Ages and the Renaissance: this was my school to understand the art, in addition to the ancient villas and palaces of Versilia and Lucca that constituted my pictorial training. I did not know the lessons of the Academies. The work of restoration and pictorial frescoes, carried me in those rooms, on stages, many meters above ground: it was to me a master an obscure but talented painter. Giotto, Masaccio, Piero della Francesca contributed to my classical education. From these it came the great love for the fresco». He worked in Lido di Camaiore, in the studio of Via Buonarroti, taking part in major Italian art exhibitions and obtaining important prizes - in he won the National Michetti Prize, in which he also participates in the subsequent edition of , and in in the Cremona National Award. He also participated in the Mostra del Fiorino in Florence and at the National Exhibition "I pittori italiani dopo il '900", held in Pontedera, Ferrara and Milan. His art is characterized by a strong component of civic engagement. Has created numerous murals: the Aula Magna of the Istituto Magistrale "G. Pascoli" in Barga, Liceo Scientifico "Galileo Galilei" in Siena () and Female technical Institute in Macerata, the Council Chamber of the Town Hall in Carrara () and Palazzo Comunale in Viareggio (). In he obtained the Michetti National Award (in which he participated also in ) and in the Cremona National Award. He also participated in the Mostra del Fiorino in Florence and at the National Exhibition "I pittori italiani dopo il '900", held in Pontedera, Ferrara and Milan. Read more
