My name is Megan Wilson. I am a graduate student from the University of Cambridge (Christ's College) and have just completed a postgraduate degree from the University of Sheffield. I am offering tuition from KS2 to A-level, specialising in the subjects of Science, Maths and Geography, and from all examination boards. In addition, I can offer advice for 6th form students writing their personal statements and applying to UCAS. With education I believe there is no universal approach to teaching or learning. Therefore my methods of tutoring will depend entirely on the child I am working with whether they need reassurance, a topic explaining in an entirely different way, or simply acquisition of new revision/learning techniques. Ultimately I like to create a relaxed atmosphere with my tutoring sessions where the pupil feels encouraged and excited to learn more. At present I am flexible with my tutoring times and I am happy to cycle anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the city. I normally charge £/hour depending on the level of tuition required. I am a qualified Science Teacher and now work as a Science Tutor. I am based in Poole and work from my home office. I teach primary school students to introduce them to science and help prepare them for the 11+ test if required. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to and including GCSE level for the main exam boards. I aim to improve the understanding of science topics by breaking them down into manageable chunks that make them accessible for students of all abilities. I can also help with knowledge retention, making revision notes and preparation for exams. I am confident in teaching students who have physical and mental disabilities to enable them to fully engage in the science and find enjoyment in their learning. I find that the one to one support provided by tutoring really encourages students to fully understand the topics and provides them with confidence in their own knowledge. I engage a number of different learning techniques to ensure that the knowledge is accessible to all students. Many students find a classroom situation overwhelming so the different experience and support of a tutor can really help them to thrive in the school environment. I offer one to one sessions for an individual student or a pair of students together and charge £30 per hour. If a student requires a more in depth session before am exam then I am happy to do a number of hours together.
