An important component in the development of the Swedish welfare state. The Citograf was the technology that made the administrative reform technically and administratively possibly before the computer was introduced.The new tax laws introduced in presented new demands to the authorities. To meet these demands, a reliable population administration system, Citografs, by Carl Lamm AB, was launched in Stockholm. This was the technical solution for this administration system.The Citograf, for stamping aluminium plates for the registration system. The registry system has three parts: registration plates, an embossing machine and a printing machine. The embossing machine printed registers in relief in plates whilst the printing machine was used to print the names and addresses of the plates on paper.
