He then placed himself under the tutelage of none other than Sangeet-Maartand Padma-Bibhushan Pandit Jasraj Ji, the doyen of Mewati Gharana, the living legend of Indian Classical Music who spotted the immense talent in Saptarshi and accepted him as his disciple. Having given many solo performances in cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Varanasi, Shillong, Hyderabad, etc.. and having given vocal accompaniment with his Guru Pandit Jasraj Ji throughout the country, Saptarshi has earned high appreciation from connossieurs and the music lovers alike. He also has to his credit a solo classical vocal album 'Reverence' which has been broadcast by 'Worldspace Sattelite Radio' for which he has received high acclaim. Having a first class Master's degree in Indian Classical Music from Rabindrabharati University, Kolkata, Saptarshi has been the recipient of prestigious awards bestowed by the university. Gifted with a stunningly rich voice, the soft, emotive and spiritual approach of the Mewati gharana forms the ethos of Saptarshi's gayaki keeping intact the sweet and note wise melodic elaboration of the Kotali & Kirana gharana owing to his earlier training under his father. Saptarshi specialises in the rederring of 'Khayal', the prevalent form of Hindustani Vocal music and his rendition of devotional music 'Bhajan' and 'Haveli Sangeet' always leaves the audience on a spiritual high.
