It has had far going restorations to the first six and last three pages (see photos). On the other side, the book block is firmly in the nice half leather binding (with 5 ribs). The book block and the illustrations (except for those mentioned) are very decent. Offered copies of this work are often less complete, for instance with 30 instead of 50 lithographs. Maurits Greshoff (The Hague, 11 October - Amsterdam, 8 December ) was a Dutch botanist and director of the ‘Koloniaal Museum’ in Haarlem. Greshoff left in as a military pharmacist 2nd class in the Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger (Dutch East Indies Army) for Java, where he did fundamental research in plant physiology and comparative phytochemistry. Back in The Netherlands he was hired as a chemist at the ‘Koloniaal Museum’ in Haarlem. He became deputy director of this museum in and general director in .
