The Dorset coast is an exciting and great part of the UK to capture seascapes. We will work around Durdle Door and surrounding areas to make coastal images. As well as the classic seascapes we'll cover B&W or abstract too. This prehistoric coastline offers lots of variety and scope to suit all interests. Corfe Castle, Studland, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door are some of the places we may visit on this 1 - 2 day workshop. Recommended equipment: Tripod (I have some for hire if you don't own one yet), No specialist lenses required, Remote cable release, A polariser filter is useful but not essential Neutral Density and Graduated ND filters are useful too. No prior knowledge of photography is required as each student will be taught individually, according to their level. Learn to recognise correct lighting, contrast and texture to shape and form each shot. Learn the impact of using long exposure, shallow depth of field and other techniques. Work with Alan to review your shots, accept new ideas and improve your photography. Christmas Photography Walk, Lapworth - 29th December in

Will you need to escape the heat and fuss of Christmas festivities and start walking off some of the overindulgence of the last few days? Join me for the informal photo walk/drive day. We will spend the day around Lapworth, walking across a variety of areas from farmland and meadows to lakes and canals and anything else that screams at us to be photographed. The day will include a break for lunch at the Punch Bowl and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions, talk photography and exercise your creative juices along the 4.5 mile photo walk We will meet at Lapworth Chruch - this is much more an informal walk, talk and photograph workshop hence the reduced price - you will still get plenty of tuition throughout. Devon Seascapes Photography Workshop - 2nd/3rd April in

Join Alan Ranger for this amazing photography workshop in some the best photographic coastal parts of the UK. The rugged shoreline and beach at Hartland Quay, everyone's favourite - Clovelly harbour, and time permitting perhaps a stop off at Croyde Bay or Heddon's Mouth. Typically we start the day at Hartland Quay, North Devon and meet for breakfast at the Hartland Quay Hotel which resides on the cliff edge overlooking the spectacular shoreline. Hartland Quay is one of the UK's most dramatic seascape locations. Long slithers of rock formations and a fierce tide combine to bring you a fantastic photographic location. After some time working the rugged shoreline and beach we move onto a second location - this will depend on wishes of group, tide times and weather but Clovelly harbour is normally a favourite spot for lunch and some different shots. The afternoon we have more choices to shoot at several local beaches and can choose depending on whether you want rock formations or sand patterns... The Sunday we head part way back and can stop at Croyde, Heddon or any one of the great coastal spots depending on the requirements of the group - choices are sand dunes, large sweeping sandy beaches, large boulder and pebble beaches or rivers and waterfalls that join the sea.
