I am selling unique and solid Cavalry Mouthpiece. It was made in France and used by General Haller's Army (Blue Army) during WW1.  It has steel frame and brass badges on both sides. Proper cleaning could bring back it stunning display. As you can see on the photos it is in very good used condition. Very unusual and heavy piece. Great for collectors! 

Details about   Hard Rubber Pelham Horse Bit with curb

Pelham- 4 1/2'' with curb chain and strap, great condition. The Hard rubber pelham is about the most popular variety of pelham, and the modern alternative to the vulcanite pelhams. The hard rubber coating softens the action of the curved mullen mouth of this pelham bit giving space for the tongue, with no collapse on the bars and no real palate pressure.  Hard rubber pelhams are best suited to horse that have enough space for a large mouthpiece and are ideal for novice riders using a stronger bit for the first time as the mouth is so mild. Pelhams are designed to be used with two reins, the 'snaffle' rein on the larger ring which should have a constant contact, and the curb rein is attached to the smaller loose bottom ring and is used when needed. The small hole in the shank just above the curb ring is for a lip strap, not essential but correct for showing and helps to keep the curb chain flat.  If the rider wishes to use only one pair of reins, roundings can be used to join the snaffle and curb rings together and the reins go on the loop of leather to give an action on both mouthpiece and curb when the rein is pulled. Details about   American shank / curb bit.

American shank / curb bit 5 1/2 inches. 14cm. I would say this is some sort of Western reining bit. This was sold to me as being sweet iron, however, it also has some copper inlay in the back. I have used this a few times and the mouth piece is showing some almost like rust substance, I think it maybe the sweet iron. This is not rough and doesn't come off if you handle it. Its a straight, slightly mullen mouth, with a barrel in the center. This does NOT offer any flexion of the mouth piece, ONLY rotation so the shanks can be used independently. Shanks are 5 inches long from the mouth piece to the bottom of the ring. I've tried to be as detailed as possible about this unique bit.
