THIS IS A GORGEOUS, FROM THE 'S, UNUSED JAPANESE WOOD LACQUER MUSICAL JEWELRY BOX EMBELLISHED WITH HAND-PAINTED BAMBOO AROUND THE TOP AND FRONT ON A LUSTROUS BLACK BACKGROUND. THERE ARE 3 PIECES OF MOTHER-OF-PEARL INLAID ON THE BAMBOO.  THE  HINGES ARE BRASS AND THE LOCK PLATE IS STEEL. COLORED METAL. THE INTERIOR IS LINED WITH RED "VELVETEEN" AND THERE ARE 2 COMPARTMENTS ON EACH SIDE OF A RING HOLDER, WITH SMALL PAINTED BAMBOO LIDS WITH RED TASSELS.  THERE IS ONE TINY "SMUDGE" IN ONE OF THE COMPARTMENTS AND ON THE EDGE OF THE RING HOLDER THAT MAY BE REMOVED WITH WOOLITE.  THE MIRROR IS CLEAN AND NOT RUSTED. The music box is hand painted and has has three storage areas, one at the center and a drawer at each side. The box has a lock, but unfortunately I don;t have the key. Approx size: 4 1/2" tall,  " long   6" wide.  The music play, I would sell at spares / repair,  it does have movement but sticks / stops without being able to play the actual tune. Also as you can see from the picture, there is a lever missing. The Box is in good condition but is show signs of wear and tear as you can see from the photos. Details about   VINTAGE MUSICAL BALLERINA JEWELRY BOX

This musical box has been used.  It has a pirouetting ballerina who dances to the theme from "Love Story". It is in full working order, the wind up key mechanism is all correct. Made in China, by a company called TOYO (stamped on the metal key). All the hinges are brass. This is made out of plastic, made to look like wood, copying a traditional style. The hinged, mirrored lid lifts up to reveal the ballet dancer, (who pops up via a bending spring mechanism), and there is a red lined compartment. There are left & right magnetised, hinged, mirrored compartments, each having a 3 hook hanging arrangement.  There are 2 pull out, red lined drawers.  The top drawer is fixed. The box is coloured in a mahogany colour, and the handles are gold coloured. It measures 7" high x 7" wide x 4.5" deep.  Solid construction. There are a few tiny marks, due to use. A nice collectable box. From a smoke free home. Thank you for looking.
