A pair of oak & iron  hames used for shire or other working horses. Measuring approx 31" in length, and approx weight including transit packaging is 5.5kg These are among a total of seven pairs due for auction, and all have been inherited from grandparents, great-grandparents and beyond, who ran the family farm from Victorian times to the 's. They are all in great condition for their age, some having been partially or fully restored (the hames, not the relatives !)  and include the link chains. Some are oak wood, semi encased in wrought iron, and some are fully encased. One pair is handcrafted solid wood. I found these collectable cart horse reins in a milk churn that I bought. They are made from wood metal and leather. There is a large hoop on one side, 2 hooks and a strap. I do not know what these type of reins should look like therfore I have included plenty of photographs. They are 84cm long and fairly heavy.
