Details about   Vintage pair of Horse Hames / Harness

Vintage pair of Horse Hames / Harness   These hames are made of wood possibly oak (but I’m no wood expert) with brass strips down the sides and brass rings attached.   The wood is varnished.   The hames measure roughly 36” in length. The solid wood pieces are in great shape. The wood is approx 2-2.5" wide x 1" thick.   The metal keepers, rings, and brackets have some surface rust, but it only adds rustic charm.   The metal Hames hooks have a Kangaroo stamped in to them. Please see pictures.   The leather straps at the top of the hames are in very good condition and has a brass buckle.   Overall they are good enough to use or if you would prefer they also display well, and would look great hanging inside or outside for décor.   Nice collectors’ piece.   This item can either be collected or you can send your own courier service to collect.   Cash on collection is preferred. Please be aware that this is a used item and so there will be some signs of wear, scuffs and scratches. Due to previous idiots not reading the description properly this item is COLLECTION ONLY. Details about   Size 6, Straight Bar Pelham Bit with curb

                                             SIZE 6 STRAIGHT BAR PELHAM WITH CURB CHAIN USED A COUPLE OF TIMES ONLY SO IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. The Pelham bit is often used for horses that prove too strong in a snaffle, the Pelham is a very popular bit. It uses a variety of pressures, which seem to work together to prove a very useful bit. The Pelham should theoretically be used with 2 reins, the first rein is attached to the snaffle rein, and the second rein attached to the ring at the bottom of the shank, when the first rein is used the Pelham acts like a hanging cheek snaffle, putting slight pressure on the poll, when the second rein is brought into play, this increases the leverage and lip pressure, and also the curb chain comes into play, the greater the distance between the cheek slot and the mouthpiece the greater the poll pressure, the greater the length of shank the greater the amount of leverage. The curb chain should be fitted so that the curb chain tightens when the second rein is brought into play, but there must be a bit of give so not to tighten up straight away. The Pelham can also be used with Pelham roundings for the young or the novice, as dealing with 2 reins may prove too much of a handful but the actions of Pelham become less differential. The Pelham should be used with 2 reins for showing.
