I have gained more confidence lately after learning to tie him up to mount, so that stops him walking backwards and the last time he took me towards the hedge I managed to turn him and drag him back through so really pleased with myself. The bit also seems a lot more comfortable for him. Riding out has returned to be enjoyable again and very rewarding so thanks. They are a single length leather stirrup which reduces the bulk between the riders leg and the saddle flaps.  They are made with a nice soft leather and a super strong nylon webbing which is designed so the leathers don't stretch!
