Details about Vintage Whippy Sidesaddle Stirrup Leather
Extremely Rare Riding Home Spare Stirrup made by Whippy and Co. This stirrup would be attached to the girth straps on the offside to allow the groom to ride the tired horse home astride. From the estate of Lady Margaret Fortesque, Castle Hill, Devon, kindly donated by her daughter, Lady Arran. Leather case: In good sound condition, well oiled, only fault some wear around hole for button catch. Size 6.5" x 5", excluding straps. Stirrup: Steel (not stainless) with nickel plating. Some surface rust and wear to plating, but in fully working condition and little wear. Rotates freely. Size 5" high, 4" wide internally. Webbing: Some soiling with rust marks from stirrup, but sound and strong. Stitching very good. 12" long. Will post abroad, please contact for quote before bidding.
